Where is your data?

With data access requests on the increase and GDPR coming into force in May 2018, companies are having to think about where their data is held as well as how secure is it.

It is no longer good enough to just say “It’s in the cloud”.  GDPR states you have to know that any personal data you store, complies with the new regulations and is held at an authorised regional location.  For those using services from Microsoft, Google, Box etc this is already in place with the relevant supplier however for smaller services you may need to check … for example, the US is not on the list of approved data storage locations.

With this in mind, both Google and Apple have announced massive increases in data access requests. For more information see this article link.
